iPhone setup
The usual iPhone path. Menu names vary by iOS version and region.
Add the plan
On a recent iPhone, open Settings, then Cellular or Mobile Service, then Add eSIM. You can scan a QR code or enter the details from the installation page.
If you do not see Add eSIM, the phone or the installed iOS version is not offering eSIM. Stop there.
After it is installed
Turn on the new line for cellular data when you want to use it. Leave your home line in place if you still want calls and texts on that number.
Data roaming for the travel line often has to be switched on after you land. That switch does not unlock a carrier-locked phone.
